The best way to add glamour to your fingers is arguably by wearing beautiful rings. It can be rings with a great symbolic value, such as a wedding ring, or it can simply be rings that compliment your outfit. And just because something sparks doesn't necessarily mean that it's valuable. You've probably seen it yourself: there are rings – with, what looks like a diamond – selling for $10 at a grocery store. Then again, you can see a ring, that to a certain degree, looks like the $10 ring at the grocery store, selling for $10,000. In the end, it's all about branding and quality.

How To Get a Ring Valuation?

At Value My Stuff, we offer valuations on all types of jewelry, including rings. If you don't know anything about the ring, e.g., the type of metal of the ring (yellow gold, white gold, Steele, etc.), and the size of the diamond, then the best way is to go to a local jeweler who can examine the ting in-person. With their tools, they can give you information about the metal as well as the quality and size of the stone. With that information, you can easily submit an appraisal on Value My Stuff by including images and information about the ring to get an appraisal from our ring expert. Get your ring appraisal here!

How Much Does It Cost to Get a Wedding Ring or an Engagement Ring Appraised?

At Value My stuff, we charge $28 for a 48h appraisal. You'll get your ring appraised by a world-leading expert, and you'll receive a certification that can be used for insurance purposes but also be used if you want to sell your ring.

Why Should You Get a Ring Appraised?

It's always good to know the value of your property, whether it's items you never intend to sell or not. If you want to sell, then it's essential to have a third-party valuation. If you don't want to sell, it's still good to know the value for insurance purposes, as you never know what can happen. It's therefore important to know the value, and we recommend the services of Value My Stuff. If you have more than one item, then we offer packages. The bigger the package, the bigger the discount.

Different Types of Metals

Inexpensive rings, and even fashion rings, can be made of stainless steel, which for some can be viewed as silver, although it's not. Steel is the most inexpensive material. Other, more expensive metals are gold (which can be in various types such as yellow, rose, white, etc.), silver, platinum, palladium, and titanium. In terms of wedding rings, the most typical variation is yellow gold, while engagement rings often are in silver.

Rings with Diamonds

Although a plain ring without any stone can be very valuable, the real value is in the shiny stone. That's why engagement rings are almost always more expensive than wedding rings, which don't usually have a diamond. The four main precious stones are diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. Diamonds are by far the most common, but they are not necessarily the cheapest alternative. In fact, looking at the most valuable precious stones, we find big and clear diamonds at the top.

Top 5 Most Expensive Engagement Rings by Celebrities

On January 5 in, 1956, one of Hollywood’s finest stars Grace Kelly became engaged to Prince Rainier of Monaco. They would later marry each other later that same year. Grace Kelly received a beautiful yet somewhat simple engagement ring at first. But after a while, Prince Rainier realized that the ring was somewhat small compared to rings worn by other leading women in Hollywood. So he bought a new engagement ring for Grace. This time, a truly incredible 10.5c diamond ring with two baguettes made by Cartier! The value? Close to $40 million! That ring is by far the most valuable celebrity engagement ring; here’s a top 5 list.

1) Grace Kelly – $38.8 million.
2) Jackie Kennedy Onassis – $20 million.
3) Mariah Carey – $10 million.
4) Elizabeth Taylor – $8.8 million.
5) Anna Kournikova – $5.4 million.

Leading Brands For High-End Engagement Rings

As we all know, buying anything from a famous retailer or a big international brand adds money to the price. Sure, if you’re buying an engagement ring, then you’re paying for the metal and the stone, but you’re also paying for the brand. Cartier and Tiffany & Co. are two of the top brands for engagement rings. Other brands that are probably slightly less known to the wide public are Chopard, Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston, and Graff.

How to Appraise Diamonds

The value diamonds have four categories to examine: a) Cut: how is the diamond cut, how many corners, in what shape, etc. b) Color: What color is the diamond? There is often more than one color, although usually very light, it can for example be a slight touch of yellow. c) Clarity: How clear is the diamond? Carat: How big is the diamond? These four categories are often known as the four C's. To get a value of a diamond, one needs to examine all four C's. If the results are very high on all four, then we're in the millions.
