A date with Katie "Jordan" Price has been auctioned for £12,000 to two footballers, which could inspire antique appraisal seekers to raise some cash.

Manchester City players Adam Johnson and Micah Richards put up the sum to take the model out.

The bidding was done at the Creme de la Creme black-tie ball, held at retired footballer Ashley Ward's mansion in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, in order to generate money for the Meningitis Trust.

The event - which raised around £200,000 for four charities - was attended by an array of celebrity guests, including Manchester United footballer Wes Brown, as well as Coronation Street stars Michelle Keegan and Kym Marsh.

Last month, True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgard was also trying to help out an aid organisation when he asked fans to give money to a charity auction site to support Amnesty International instead of buying him presents for his birthday.
