Those searching for accurate antique appraisals may be interested to note a 16th century book about nose jobs has gone under the hammer for £11,000.
The 1597 tome - written by Italian surgeon Gaspare Tagliacozzi and featuring various diagrams on the type of surgery, known as rhinoplasty - was purchased by a plastic surgeon.
It is entitled De Curtorum Chirurgia Per Insitionem - which translates to Surgery of Defects by Implantation's - and was sold at the Dominic Winter auction house in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
Chris Albury, from the auctioneers, called the item a "wonderful and rare book", adding: "The ¬techniques were clearly well-thought of at the time, yet all was forgotten following Tagliacozzi's death."
Antique appraisals seekers may also be interested to hear earlier this month a book beat its pre-sale estimate to sell for more than £7 million, which is believed to be more than any other printed tome.
