A number plate that could be popular with fans of Liverpool Football Club has gone under the hammer for £2,606, which could inspire people to get antique valuations.

The registration - LFC 8OY - is now in the possession of 19-year-old Daniel Lamb, from Bradford, after his father John purchased the item as a surprise.

It was sold by the DVLA from Rudding Park, near Harrogate, at a three-day auction which ends today (October 7th).

Mr Lamb senior noted that he only went to the auction to try to buy a completely different number plate, but someone outbid him when he was on £11,200.

However he was pleased with the LFC item, adding: "It's a great plate. Having it will be a real bit of fun. Daniel is going to love it."

One motor that the registration could be attached to is an Aston Martin driven by Sean Connery in some of the James Bond movies, as it is set to go up for auction on October 27th and has been handed an antique valuation of £3.5 million.
