A sports car once owned by James Bond's creator Ian Fleming has sold for an antique valuation of £80,000 at auction by Bonhams.

The vehicle - a 1962 AC Aceca Coupe, which is dark blue with a red leather interior - is believed to be one of only six Ford-powered Acecas left in the world.

It went under the hammer at the Good wood Revival near Chichester, west Sussex and had expected to go for between £100,000 and £130,000.

According to records, the car left the factory in Surrey in 1962, the same year that Fleming finished The Spy Who Loved Me.

Another piece of motoring history to recently go under the hammer was a 1970 Morris Minor post van, which raised £8,000 for Barnardo's when it was auctioned off earlier this month.

It had been donated by Royal Mail after previously being used for deliveries in Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole during six years of service.
