A life-size statue of pop star Elvis Presley has been sold in the US for $20,500 (£13,200).

It belonged to former governor Rod Blagojevich's campaign fund - and Fox News has reported details of the agreed price and claimed there was a bidding war.

A series of possessions owned by the political figure - including photographs and files - were put up for sale by a Chicago storage facility.

Blagojevich is reportedly a fan of the King of Pop - and it appears that many music enthusiasts were keen to get their hands on the unique piece of history.

He was convicted for lying to the FBI this week and proceeds from the sale are expected to go to a children's hospital.

The other items up for grabs included a framed picture of Abraham Lincoln, old campaign material and a variety of memorabilia.

Elsewhere in the US, it was recently announced that items belonging to the reality TV star Teresa Giudice have been put up for sale in a bid to generate cash following her bankruptcy.
