Football memorabilia has antiques valuation of £6k

Football items could fetch around £6,000 if the antiques valuation is correct.

Sports Memorabilia

A Scotland international football cap and a collection medals awarded to a father and son have had an antiques valuation of £6,000 placed on them.

The memorabilia was won by former Celtic player James McMenemy and his son Harry - who played for Newcastle United - and dates back as far as 1900, reports the Daily Record.

The lot which is up for sale tomorrow (November 30th) includes one Mr McMenemy's Scotland caps from 1905, as well as two gold medals he received from the Scottish Football Association for turning out against England in 1910 and 1914.

Medals and mementoes from his son Harry's career in the late 1920s and the 1930s are available in the auction.

According to the newspaper the haul will be auctioned at Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh.

This comes after former England footballer Nobby Stiles sold his 1966 World Cup winners for £188,200 at auction to his ex-club Manchester United.
