A James Bond gun has sold for more than ten times its antiques valuation.

The item - which was used in promotional images of 007 film From Russia With Love - went under the hammer for £277,250 at a Christie's auction in London yesterday (November 25th).

Experts had predicted the Walther air pistol, which was held by Sean Connery during some of the advertising, would fetch between £15,000 and £20,000.

The gun had managed to dramatically increase in value since 2001 when, according to Metro, it was auctioned previously but only managed to reach a price of £14,100.

Last month, an Aston Martin DB5, which appeared in the Goldfinger and Thunderball films, failed to meet its antiques valuation but still managed to sell for £2.6 million.

The motor, which was driven by Connery in the motion pictures, had been expected to sell for more than £3 million at the Battersea Evolution in London.
