Anyone looking to value their finest collectibles might be interested in the story of one England international's in-demand boots.

The pair, belonging to Sunderland hotshot Darren Bent, sold for £640 in an auction designed to raise funds for the SAFC Foundation charity, the Sunderland Echo reports.

Many of the items up for grabs were donated by footballers from the Premiership club.

In addition, a converted double-decker bus called the Black Cat Express was flogged for £3,900.

This was the highest price accrued at the sale, helping disadvantaged young people get into education in the process.

Elsewhere, a signed programme from ex-midfielder Gordon Armstrong for his 1994 testimonial was also part of the auction, while items from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Newcastle United were also up for grabs.

In total, the sale generated £8,000 for the charity.

With the FIFA World Cup scheduled to start next month, it could be said that memorabilia related to the famous tournament will have a high value.
